Port Education at the Port Pavilion
The Port of Hueneme is the second largest employer in the area and is home to 1,500 employees. Learn about how the Port works for the community as one of California’s busiest seaports for general cargo, handling over 11 billion in cargo value annually. The Port is one of the top 10 ports in fresh produce and automobiles in the United States. Importing and exporting globally throughout six continents. The Port Pavilion will feature heavy equipment seen on the Port such as Big Blue and other special attractions. Can anyone find the big gorilla with the banana onsite? Is he in the fork lift, the semi or just hanging around? Inside the Pavilion learn about how cargo is moved in and out, what the largest imports and exports are and find out about the latest projects that are underway.
Waterside & Land Port Tours
Port tours will be available for festival attendees wishing to view any operations taking place that day. This is a rare opportunity to see the Port from the sea as the Sunfish boat from Channel Islands Expeditions and the Coroloma from Hook’s Sportfishing takes you on a tour in and around the Port and the Naval Base. Or tour the Port by land on a comfortable Starline Tours double-decker motorcoach. Photo ID will be required for all adults participating. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Waterside Port tours and land tours are every half hour. All tours are first come first serve. Visit the Port Pavilion onsite at the Festival for sign ups. Passengers will be escorted from the Festival and will board the Sunfish from Channel Islands Expeditions or the Coroloma from Hook’s Sportfishing at the Port dock.
